WHY YOU SHOULD JOIN WZO
WZO is an international organisation, bringing together Zoroastrian communities spread across the globe. As a member of the Zoroastrian community worldwide, you can join WZO and give expression to that sense of community and identity. You can contribute to the aim of maintaining and advancing the faith and promoting the wellbeing of all Zoroastrians, especially those who are in need. You can join WZO while being a member of a local Zoroastrian organisation. The two organisations, local and international, are mutually beneficial - not mutually exclusive. WZO represents individual Zoroastrians as well as Zoroastrian communities at national and international levels. It has been called upon to assist refugees and those fleeing persecution. WZO comes to the aid of Zoroastrian communities and individuals suffering from economic deprivation and disadvantage. By joining WZO, you will be able to support this work and contribute to the wellbeing of our community. WZO is an inclusive organisation. It is proud of its record as an organisation that is tolerant of different views, opens its doors to all Zoroastrians and welcomes their spouses and children. Non-Zoroastrian spouses can join as full members and children of interfaith marriages are welcome. WZO believes that local communities must make their own decisions on these matters. However, it will assist a Zoroastrian who feels excluded by or isolated from their local community. WZO will, on request, try to assist with arranging Zoroastrian blessings ceremony at weddings and help with the navjote of a child where only one parent is a Zoroastrian. WZO supports the advancement of the faith by holding seminars, annual symposiums and by sponsoring conferences and workshops at different locations around the world. WZO links communities through its publications and social events. Our quarterly magazine, Hamazor, is now firmly established as the finest Zoroastrian publication. WZO also organises a number of social events, particularly in India and the UK. WZO is a registered charity. It has tackled rural poverty in Gujarat, built homes for the poor and aged, organised holidays for poor families and widows, supported education programmes and employment projects in India and Iran and helped with medical expenses. It also raises funds for international emergencies such as the Tsunami and the earthquake in northern Pakistan. Your membership and your donations help to finance this work. To become a member of WZO, complete an application form from the region you are normally residing. For those persons not living in India, Pakistan, New Zealand, USA or Canada, please complete the UK form. Membership of WZO is open to all Zoroastrians and their spouses and their children.
