Gaining higher education is a worthwhile pursuit in itself and the opportunity to study at an advanced level is one of the most valuable gifts we can give our children. A sound academic background enables them to achieve their potential and provides them with a greater choice of occupations as well as a better chance to live prosperous and fulfilled lives. Zoroastrian youth have to succeed in a highly competitive world and therefore, education at undergraduate and postgraduate levels is indispensable and opens new vistas in their chosen professions.

In most countries, university students can still seek Maintenance Grants from the State towards accommodation and other living costs - but these are largely dependant on household income and the means tested threshold is quite high. The family has to be on a fairly low income, for the student to gain a full maintenance grant. In addition, students have to pay Tuition Fees and subsistence whilst having to stay away from home. Therefore, nearly every student takes out a student loan to fund his or her studies.

Many students see the loan as a worthwhile investment but by the end of their studies it constitutes a substantial burden. It can deter many from taking up postgraduate studies. Only those pursuing careers in finance and banking are confident that they can pay off the loan easily. In some cases, the lack of family finance does prevent some of our Zoroastrian Youth from entering undergraduate and post graduate courses.

WZO has supported applications towards education loans and grants in a modest way but further funding is required to support the ever increasing burden of fees and expenses that our talented young men and women face. Your contribution will be an investment in the future of our young and will also ultimately benefit our community. Please support this worthy cause by making a donation to the WZO Education Fund.
